The Art of Print

Want to know more about printmaking techniques? Iowa Artisans Gallery illustrates forms and techniques for making limited edition original prints in a show of work Gallery printmakers entitled The Art of the Print, January 21 – February 27, 2011.

Printmaking encompasses a variety of techniques used for centuries to create reproducible images for books and printed materials. Painters also used printmaking techniques to create limited edition art prints. Techniques include intaglio (etching and drypoint), woodcuts, serigraphy (screenprinting) and linocut. Intaglio artists include Ann Marie Pavlik and Larry Welo. Artists creating woodcuts and linocuts include Lennis Moore, Carl Homstad and Lori Biwer-Stewart. Laurie Wright is our serigrapher.

All techniques will be illustrated with information signage and some actual equipment, such as etching plates.
