New Artists! & New Arrivals!

Lisa Pedolsky,of Durango, CO, brings us unique designs constructed out of slabs of terra cotta. She likens her structural procedure to that of a dress maker - designing patterns from sketches and then cutting, folding and assembling the clay into a tactile piece. New ceramic artist Jose Sierra of Tuscan, AZ designs contemporary art pottery; minimal yet strong and full of motion. Also look for hand-blown glass vases and perfume bottles from new artist, Seth Parks, of Redondo Beach, CA and fused glass from Latimer Glass Studio's "Image & Ivory" collection.

Ed & Kate Coleman of Swannanoa, NC add a burst of color and attitude with their sculptural, but functional pottery. And Michele Friedman's "bold, graphic compositions of positive and negative space" show beautifully in her felt and bi-metal jewelry designs. For the walls we have new organically inspired works from local Iowa City favorite, William Blair and Jaroslava Sobiskova of Madison, WI.

Judy Rand of Shepherdstown, WV creates "sophisticated folk" wood pieces. Hand-carved and hand-painted, her work ranges from functional furniture to hanging art that makes an impressive statement. Also look for new work from Stiles in Clay. They have created beautiful wood and ceramic sculptures that capture the simplicity of nature and welcome the coming seasons.

Fiber artist Jennifer Hasings of Hendersonville, NC uses her "divine creativity" to bring life to her figurative characters. Her whimsical creations take on character from detailed embellishments including miniature hats, natural feather hair, and clothing all tailored to the personality of the figure.

One of our old favorites, The Tin Woodsman Pewter Co. has created a new line for little ones. Their Crosby & Taylor solid pewter keepsakes range from baby spoons to music boxes and are the perfect gift for that new addition.

We're also beginning to see new work for the holidays trickling in. We have hand-made Halloween cards from local artists and the Willowind Elementary School students have donated their time and efforts to the Sandbag Handbag flood relief cause to make "Sandbag Treatbags." And we haven't forgotten that Christmas is not far around the corner. We're already seeing ornaments from STICKS, and many new arrivals are still to come. Check back soon for more updates!
